Today is the day to let go of things that no longer serve you.
Many of us live our lives outside of joy. So much so that “living outside of joy” becomes the norm. We get used to feeling the way we feel, processing through our daily grind, tolerating unhappiness, and eventually succumb to the (erroneous) idea that the way we feel is permanent.
Today I ask you to shatter that myth. Take a moment and sit quietly – undisturbed. Think back on events in your life when you remember being joyful in your existence, when you saw every day as a blessing. Really feel the emotion of those times, pull that emotion from your memories, and direct the emotion into your heart. Feel how it feels to be happy again. Now sit in silence for just a bit more and ask out loud, “What is one thing can I do or change in my life today/this week that will bring me closer to feeling this joy every day?”
Pay attention as visuals stream through your mind – scenarios that may play out guiding your next steps. If you’re more auditory, listen for words or sounds that will resonate with you and be your call to action. This is a form of “creative prayer” where you’re asking for help while giving the Divine your full, uninterrupted attention so you can be truly present for your answer.
If you don’t receive an answer, try again. It takes daily practice to ask for help and learn how to “see and hear” incoming guidance. To make lasting change, you must be in a place where you are ready to release those things that tie you down and no longer bring you joy. Life is short and there is no doubt in my mind that our Creator intended for us to live joyfully and in our full creative expression.
